We have since shown our screen shots to Travelocity and they still do not admit their error. He was trying to help us as much as he could. Jorge, the front desk mgr, offered us some different rooms and offered them at the best discounts they could offer. So we spent hours trying to talk to Travelocity about all this and they simply denied everything. None of that came through to the resort! We had screenshots of all of this but they were back at home in the USA. NOW.the trouble.Travelocity! Do not use them! We had booked a specific room with Premium, which came with a 400.00 credit to be used at the resort. We had told Daniela when we would be arriving and she was there to greet us when we showed up. When we got to the resort, we were TIRED.up at 4am, airport, flight, airport, shuttle.if you do not hit traffic, it is only about a 15 to 20 min ride from CUN. We recommend the Happy Shuttle or the USA Transfers, both work well and are safe. She answered a couple of our questions via chat/email, and we met up with her after our shuttle dropped us off. We would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely come back again!…įirst, right after we booked our trip, we got a greeting email from Daniela letting us know how excited they were to welcome us soon. The private excursion also worked out costing less than it would've done if we'd gone with a large group on a coach, so definitely speak to local people and reps to get better deals. Having the private tour allowed us to enjoy everything at our own pace and nothing was ever a problem for our amazing tour guide "Maui", who taught us so much about the culture and heritage of the region. We booked an incredible private tour with the local rep that allowed us to have a trip with our own tour guide and driver to Chichen Itza, a Cenote which we swam in, a delicious lunch and a trip to Valladolid. There are great excursions available to book at the hotel with a local tour rep as well as a Tui rep. Also, if you're hoping for good nightlife you're better off heading into Cancun or Playa Del Carmen which you can book taxi's to from the hotel as that is where the real nightlife lives. Luis was a great tour guide and even took photos and videos of us and sent them to us afterwards all free of charge, he was more than worthy of his tip! The evening entertainment for adults was just 'okay' but that didn't really bother us as we were all needing a relaxing holiday and we were all able to entertain ourselves. It was so cheap to do, I believe it was somewhere between 50-100pesos each which works out at between £2.50/£5 per person which was a bargain! Also, if you pay to do this once you can do it as many times as you want during your holiday and don't have to pay again. Luis who runs the tour was amazing and it involved Kayak'ing and snorkelling. One of our favourite activities at the hotel was the Kayak tour which you can take from on the beach. There was a tonne of activities for the kids to do and they made lots of friends on the holiday. The best cocktails are made in Mojito Lounge, but all of them are still great. The range of cocktails was extensive and they were all made really well. I would highly recommend getting the tacos for lunch from Zocalo they are amazing! There are a lot of bars available so we always had a cocktail in hand. This felt a bit unnecessary as the restaurants weren't too busy so I feel like they could have at least put us a bit closer even being on separate tables. There are specialist restaurants that you can book to eat at which we enjoyed, the only downside we found with a couple of them was that because we had a large group of 11 we were split up onto 2 separate tables and the tables were a long distance away from each other. The main canteen style restaurant had a great range of food everyday with a rotating menu and it was impossible to go hungry with the amount of time food was available for. The hotel itself was amazing, the rooms were all kept immaculately clean with our cleaner Erika deserving a shout out for being so wonderful! The food options were fantastic, having a vegetarian in our group and people who don't eat pork was no problem at all and there were more than enough choices for everybody. Having done a large family holiday to Abu Dhabi a few years we enjoyed parts of the experience but wanted more from the location and the hotel, Azul Beach Resort provided everything we could've hoped for and more.
